So, Who Are We?

We’re Wendy and Kate: two friends, enthusiastic sewists, and repeat offenders when it comes to turning casual conversations into business ideas.

The sewing started on Wendy’s deck.

Kate needed a dress for a wedding and had a brilliant idea: with Wendy’s help, she could simply whip one up herself.

How hard could it be?

Wendy, who had been sewing for years and knew exactly how hard it could be, gently reined her in. Instead, she suggested they work through a beginner sewing course together and learn the basics.

Rude, but practical.

A few sewing sessions later, Kate finished her first skirt—complete with French seams—and was extraordinarily precious about it. More projects followed. Some were wearable. All were educational.

Kate learned to stop waiting until she knew exactly what she was doing and start leading with curiosity. She fell for fabric stores, pattern shopping, beautiful construction details, and the satisfaction of making something with her own hands. She bought a sewing machine.

Things escalated.

Wendy and Kate already operate as a two-person committee on nutrition, the gym, sewing, personal growth, new hobbies, and anything else that seems mildly interesting. So, somewhere between deadlifts, Kate announced that she wanted to “get her colours done.”

Naturally, this became a plan to study colour analysis, host parties, offer personal styling, design sewing patterns, curate wardrobes—and possibly build an entire fashion empire.

Our first planning meeting did not help.

We produced approximately 100 ideas, answered zero questions, and went home more confused than when we started.

Eventually, we stopped asking what we could sell and started asking better questions.

Why can the “right” size still fit completely wrong? Why does a pattern look effortless on the envelope and deeply questionable in the mirror? How can gorgeous fabric become a terrible shirt? And how do you make clothes that feel like you—not like you’re borrowing someone else’s wardrobe?

Those are the questions we’re chasing.

We’ll compare patterns, experiment with fabric, untangle fitting advice, explore personal style, and show you what changed between attempt one and attempt four. We’ll share the pieces we love, the ones we rescue, and the ones that teach us a valuable lesson before quietly disappearing.

This is the space between the pattern envelope and the finished garment—where bodies, fabric, taste, and ambition all have to negotiate.
